I wrote an article for the March/April issue of AIIM’s E-DOC magazine about seven new SharePoint 2007 document management features. I will go ahead share these seven features over the next several days. So here is the first installment.
Metadata shared with document contents: One of the ways Microsoft has improved document management is by bringing the document information including metadata into the desktop clients applications through a customizable Document Information Panel which is shown at the top of the document. This panel allows for the entry of metadata and other pertinent information as required by that content type. Additionally content controls within a Word document or fields within an InfoPath form can be mapped to a document property in the property panel.
