So ECM needs to recognise 80%+ of content enters the Enterprise as an email attachment, to extract the value from this data it requires an automated process to classify and index this data to be managed by BPM tools surprisingly weak email integration with Sharepoint!!

Hi
I am form Argentina. I am working at an enterprise that uses Sharepoint 2007 as its record mgmt systema. We are planning to migrate to SPS 2010
We have developed a custom circuit in MOSS 2007 that allow people sending document from a document library to the record center, moving it and leaving a link (the same that now is OOB with SPS2010). The file persists in the Record Center site collection, and we also assign an unique document id to each document. Everything done with an event handler in the document library.
The thing is that we are planning to migrate to SPS2010 forusing all this OOB features. But I need to know waht happends with de Document Id when you decide to send the document to the Record Center (configuring the opcion “Move and Leave a Link”). In fact what I need to know is how all this feature works. Can you help me providing me all this information or senfing me some links where I can obtain it?

This is great blog! Thanks for sharing your insight into the AIIM 2010 expo experience and the role SharePoint played.

My company was part of the SharePoint 2010 Dev Kitchen & TAP, and using a metadata driven integration solution we extend SharePoint connectivity so that it securely integrates with any structured data source or application across the enterprise. As a result, SharePoint becomes an interactive, real-time, integrated control console that can be tailored to meet the needs of any role or audience.

So my question to you is, if data remains in its native application, thanks to true data federation, how do you see that capability impacting collaboration, data warehousing or ECM in general?

It doesn’t surprise me that the conference was the SharePoint show, but it does surprise me that MSFT did not focus on BPOS. They have made it clear that this is where they are focusing their competitive strategy. Sounds like they missed an opportunity.
